GENERAL FAQS:
Since you are an adventurer at heart and often face challenges yourself, let us help you with the frequently asked questions and answers to make the management of our Robust brand machines easier.
To ensure proper operation and long life spans of the machining technique, it is good to know which key elements to pay particular attention to.
CRUSHERS
How do I change the oil in the hydraulic unit? #1
Before starting work, first take care of all the necessary safety measures. Turn off the unit to allow the hydraulic oil (if present in the system) to cool down to prevent any risk of burns. Use appropriate equipment to empty the old oil from the hydraulic unit/system, taking care to follow all necessary environmental requirements. Use an oil that meets the specifications of the hydraulic unit manufacturer for the specific model of the Robust brand machine. Using the wrong oil can cause malfunctions and reduce the efficiency of the hydraulic system.
How do I change the guides on the crusher pusher? #2
Ensure safety – turn off the power supply, press the STOP button, remove the key! Loosen all screws of the side seals and the bottom sealant that tension the sealant. Remove all side sealants and bottom sealant screws securing the sealant holder to the pusher. Remove the left and right vertical sealants, along with the bottom sealant. Loosen all screws of the upper horizontal transverse sealant. Remove the upper horizontal sealant together with the holder. Replace the sealants with new ones, and also replace the springs. Lightly grease the spring axles beforehand with grease (e.g. lithium, aluminum or graphite). Carry out assembly in reverse order. Check the operation of the pusher and the sealant. Install the pusher faceplate and pusher rack (if fitted as an accessory).
To replace the longitudinal guides, first remove the two side panels at the rear of the crusher. Remove the front stops of the longitudinal guides. Unscrew the screws. Remove the supporting battens and the lower guide. Insert new guides and battens. Install the front stops of the longitudinal guides and the two side panels. Using the screws, adjust the upper longitudinal guide moderately so that it fits tightly against the upper edge of the pusher. Adjust the guides according to the instructions for adjusting the side longitudinal guides above. Start the crusher and check the settings after a few minutes.
How do I turn the cutting tool on the crusher? #3
The cutting blades can be turned three times before they need to be replaced. The easiest access to the cutting blades is from the sieve side. Ensure safety – turn off the power supply, press the STOP button, remove the key! Remove the door from the sieve (turn off the safety switch). Remove the sieve. Clean the blade screw heads (turn the rotor with a pulley – be careful not to injure your fingers). Loosen the screws by tapping lightly (the screws are glued to prevent loosening). Remove the cutting blades, clean them and also attach them. Turn the cutting blades and tighten them. Use screw adhesive (e.g. Loctite, Kemiskol or similar). Tighten with a torque between 130 and 140 Nm. Before finally tightening, make sure that the edges of the cutters are perfectly parallel to the edges of the cutter batten and that the spread is perfectly even and as small as possible. We recommend a gap between the blades and the counter battens of 0.3mm to 1mm. Turn the rotor to check the unobstructed passage of the cutting blades through the cutting battens. When the blades wear out, order new ones from the crusher supplier.
How do I set the breaker battens on the crusher sieve? #4
Remove the sieve door (turning off the safety switch). Screw the breaker battens to the threaded holes found on the sieve ribs. The position of the breaker battens can be adjusted and thereby influence the length of the exiting granulation.
SPLITTERS
Is it possible to install the winch to the splitter later on? #1
Before starting work, first take care of all the necessary safety measures. Turn off the hydraulic unit to hydrate
Yes, retrofitting a winch is possible.
This, of course, applies to models of splitters in which the installation of a winch is generally possible. These include all splitter models except the R13t model.
It is recommended that the installation be carried out by ROBUST d.o.o., otherwise any subsequent problems with the winch or related parts will not be taken into account as the subject of a complaint.
In order to carry out the installation, the splitter must be brought to the location of the ROBUST company. If you need help organizing transport in both directions, we are at your disposal.
As a rule, the installation is carried out within a few working days, depending on the occupancy of the installation capacities.
For installation, please contact the ROBUST support team in advance to receive all the necessary information and we will coordinate all the details together.
Is it possible to convert a manual winch into a remote control winch? #2
Yes, it is possible to convert a winch with manual control into a winch with remote control and vice versa.
It is recommended that ROBUST d.o.o. carry out the process, otherwise any subsequent problems on the winch or related parts will not be considered as a subject of complaint.
To carry out the conversion, the splitter with the winch must be brought to the location of the ROBUST company. If you need help organizing transport in both directions, we are at your disposal.
As a rule, the conversion is carried out within one working day, depending on the occupancy of the assembly capacity.
For conversion, please contact the ROBUST support team in advance to receive all the necessary information and we will coordinate all the details together.
HOW ABOUT OIL AND FILTER CHANGE? #3
Consistent oil and filter replacement ensures constant oil adequacy and thus optimal splitter performance.
Oil wears out over time and loses its properties. The oil loses its viscosity due to heating and condensation, and at the same time impurities gradually leak into the system, which causes the log splitter to work worse and can lead to breakdowns in certain cases. It is recommended that when changing the oil, the filter and sealant are changed also.
ROBUST splitters contain ISO VG 32 HVLP type hydraulic oil as standard.
It is recommended to change the oil and filter for the first time after 100 hours of operation.
Perform a regular hydraulic oil and filter change cycle every two years or after 500 hours of cutter operation, whichever comes first.
It is critical for a proper oil and filter change procedure that you follow the use and maintenance instructions for the splitter. If you have any questions, please contact the ROBUST support team.
HOW DO I CHECK THE OIL LEVEL? #4
Before checking the oil level, move the splitting blade to the uppermost position, then turn off the tractor or the electric motor of the splitter. Check the oil level on the control window. Top up the missing oil at the filling point of the tank up to the height of the oil level indicator.
“Regular maintenance and proper use extend the life of your equipment. Handle it with care and follow the instructions to ensure it works flawlessly and safely.”
